Blackstone grill has a big flat top griddle that is large enough to provide ample cooking surface area for testing delicious and yummy recipes.

Construction: The whole frame of the grill is covered with black powder and the surface is of thick rolled steel. The grill includes 4 stainless steel burners, an electric ignition that gives a quick start, and 4 strong caster wheels out of which two are lockable so that you can move the grill without any inconvenience.

Function: This grill doesn’t take much time to assemble as you can assemble it within a few minutes. When you are done with the assembling of the grill you can ignite the grill with its fast electronic ignition. The grill has a huge flat-top cooking surface that allows you to cook up to 16 steaks or 72 hot dogs at the same time without any discomfort.

Due to the stainless steel cooking surface, the grill provides excellent heat retention. Plus, you can set the temperature from low to high with the help of the 4 independent stainless steel burners and cook to your heart’s content.

Moreover, there are the cantilever shelves that allow you to place different seasonings or your grilling tools in order to reach them easily. There are side handles that make it easy to move the huge grill around. The 4 caster wheels make moving the grill even easier as you won’t have to lift it to move. Also, you can lock the grill in place with the 2 lockable wheels so that the grill doesn’t roll out of place while you cook.

Cleaning and maintenance: The grill’s flat top comes off easily as it is removable so just take it off when it’s time to clean it. Scrub it, rinse it, season it and let it dry completely before you put the grill away.

Any grease that drips down is collected in the built-in grease catcher. But there’s a catch, pun intended. The hole is a little faulty so some grease may end up dripping down the legs of the grill, making the cleaning process a bit of a hassle.

Pros
  • Huge cooking surface
  • Makes 16 steaks at a time
  • Adjustable heat settings
  • Excellent heat retention
  • Side shelves for keeping the grilling tools
  • Portable due to the 4 caster wheels
  • Easy to use and store

Weber’s grill comes with a beautiful design and with a 10-year warranty to boot.

Construction: This grill has an open cart design with a GS4 grilling system. You can easily ignite the grill with its infinity ignition, and it includes 3 burner tubes, porcelain-enameled flavorizer bars, and a grease management system. The cooking grates are of cast-iron and they are also porcelain enameled. An extra warming rack,  along with 2 side tables, provides more space and the left side table is foldable so you can fold it down in order to save space. The side tables have integrated hooks for hanging the necessary utensils.

Moreover, there are 2 large wheels for moving the grill around, 2 solid legs for giving a perfect balance, and a built-in thermometer to check the temperature.

Function: The grill has a GS4 grilling system that works exceptionally well. With the help of the burner tubes and a quick ignition, you can quickly ignite the grill and have even heating while you cook. The cooking grates get hot really quickly so you can get on with the cooking without too much waiting time. The grease that falls on the flavorizer bars is evaporated and that gives an exotic, smoky flavor to the food. The grease that somehow evades the flavorizer bars is collected in the drip tray which will minimize the risk of flare-ups.

This grill has perfectly dealt with the storage problem for the grilling tools with its open cart design; you needn’t worry about where to place the grilling tools and you can easily reach them as well. You can even hang the grilling tools on the hooks that are on the side tables. Moreover, the side tables allow you to place your plates, seasonings, sauces, or whatever that is needed when you are grilling.

Cleaning and maintenance: Due to the evaporation of most of the grease the cleaning process becomes really easy. Whatever grease is left behind goes straight to the drip tray and you can easily remove it to clean it. You can also clean the cast-iron cooking grates with dish soap and warm water. Just give them a little scrub with a grilling brush, rinse, and dry. Don’t forget to season the grates before putting the grill away.

Pros
  • Open cart design
  • Cast-iron cooking grates
  • 2 burners to control the heat
  • 2 large wheels to help in moving the grill
  • Built-in lid thermometer
  • Easy to use, store and clean
Cons
  • No handles to move the grill around

Buying Guide

What are gas grills?

Gas grills are known to run on natural gas and also even on bottled propane. There are many gas grills that run on propane but can easily be converted to natural gas too. Moreover, these gas grills are much more cost-effective than the other ones and the fact that they can run on natural gas means you shouldn’t get worried about using propane. As propane has many downsides unlike natural gas plus it needs to be constantly refilled. But propane-fueled gas grills help in portability and can be used whenever or wherever you choose to use it.

How spacious should the cooking surface be?

The cooking surface depends entirely on your convenience and the size of your family. If you have a large family then you should definitely get a gas grill that cooks for more than 4 people so that you can cook for everyone at a time rather than in batches.

Should we be using propane bottles?

Although they are pretty easy to use, they lead to pollution which isn’t a good thing. They aren’t environmentally friendly and they cause a great mess regarding polluting the sea and land. If you are so determined to use them then use the refillable bottles, as you won’t discard it every time you use it and they can last for about 2 weeks max.

How should you maintain or clean a grill?

The grill won’t last long if you don’t maintain or clean it. Therefore, cleaning your grill after every use is quite essential. Clean the cooking grates thoroughly by using a grill cleaner or with a grill cleaner brush. Because the cooking grates are an important feature on which you cook but they collect grease and dirt which is quite harmful to the human body. After you have cleaned the grill you should cover it with something. So, Jonathan Maes also mentions in his article his opinion about cleaning a grill and how important it is to clean it.

Which one is a better grill: gas or charcoal?

People often debate this topic determining which is better either gas or charcoal grill. Gas grills are more economical because of the cost of the fuel compared to charcoal grills. There is no compromise on the taste as gas grills are capable of giving an excellent smoky flavor just like the charcoal grills. Moreover, gas grills are perfect if you are living on a budget.

Why should you convert a gas grill to natural gas instead of propane gas?

A gas grill has the quality to run on both propane and natural gas. If you are using a propane tank for barbecuing then you better know how costly it is, unlike natural gas. Whereas natural gas as a fuel is very much cost-effective. So, you should convert it to natural gas so that you can manage your budget by reducing your fuel expenses.

Can a propane tank explode?

A propane tank can lead to an explosion in a house if you aren’t careful while using it and not taking the precautionary measures necessary to prevent such a thing from happening. Whereas natural gas is a better solution that doesn’t need as many precautionary measures to be followed.

Is it safe to use a propane grill indoors?

It is but you need to check the ventilation system in your house if you are living in a flat or in enclosed space then it’s better not to use a propane grill indoors. The smoke that builds up while grilling can be harmful for you if you inhale it because it’s full of grease and can lead to uneven breathing.

Conclusion

Conclusively, my personal favorite is the Blackstone grill that is about 36 inches and with a flat-top that cooks pretty well. Due to its ample cooking surface, you can cook pretty much everything; from searing the meat to even cooking breakfast for your family. Plus it works well for large family events. Moreover, you can easily clean it up and move the grill around in the backyard as it has portable wheels out of which two are lockable. Happy grilling!
